Position: Full-time, permanent, studio-based in West London
Experience: 3–5 years
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5.30pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start date: As soon as possible
We are a London-based interior design studio working on a carefully considered collection of residential projects across the UK and internationally.
Our work is rooted in a love of colour, craftsmanship, beautiful materials and the unexpected. We create interiors that feel personal, comfortable and thoughtfully put together, with an appreciation for both the traditional and the contemporary.
We are a small, close-knit studio, taking a highly individual approach to each project and enjoying the creative process from the earliest ideas through to the final details.
The Role
We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and highly organised Mid-Weight Interior Designer to join our studio in North Kensington.
Working closely with Harriet across a varied portfolio of residential projects, this is a hands-on role encompassing everything from initial concepts and detailed design to procurement, site coordination and installation.
The successful candidate will combine a strong creative eye with excellent technical skills and a thorough understanding of the design process. They will be confident taking ownership of their work, managing multiple priorities and ensuring that every detail is carefully considered and executed.
As part of a small team, there is plenty of opportunity to contribute creatively, take on responsibility and develop within the studio.
Key Responsibilities
Creative & Technical Design
-
Work closely with Harriet to develop original design concepts, schemes and client presentations.
-
Produce moodboards, furniture layouts, floor plans, elevations and comprehensive technical drawing packages using AutoCAD.
-
Develop detailed designs for bespoke joinery, kitchens, bathrooms and architectural elements.
-
Source and specify furniture, antiques, fabrics, lighting, materials, finishes and decorative accessories.
-
Prepare accurate schedules and specifications, including lighting, electrical, sanitaryware, ironmongery and finishes.
-
Ensure all design documentation is accurate, coordinated and produced to the studio's standards.
Project Management & Procurement
-
Take responsibility for designated areas of projects, managing deadlines, budgets and deliverables.
-
Coordinate with architects, contractors, specialist craftspeople and suppliers to ensure design intent is maintained.
-
Prepare and manage quotations, purchase orders, budgets and procurement records using Esti.
-
Oversee FF&E orders, lead times, deliveries and installation logistics.
-
Attend site meetings, monitor progress and assist with resolving design and construction queries.
-
Assist with installation, final styling and project completion.
Studio & Client Relationships
-
Communicate confidently and professionally with clients, suppliers and contractors.
-
Prepare clear project updates, presentations and correspondence.
-
Contribute to the day-to-day running of the studio, maintaining organised project records and efficient working practices.
-
Represent the studio with professionalism, discretion and care.
About You
We are looking for someone with a genuine love of interiors, an instinctive understanding of colour and proportion, and a curiosity for antiques, textiles, architecture and decorative arts. You will be a natural problem-solver, equally comfortable developing a beautiful scheme, preparing a detailed joinery drawing or coordinating with a supplier.
You are proactive, resourceful and exceptionally organised, with the confidence to work independently whilst enjoying the collaborative nature of a small studio. Above all, you take pride in your work, have a meticulous eye for detail and understand the importance of getting the small things right.
Required Skills & Experience
-
3–5 years' professional experience within a high-end residential interior design studio.
-
Excellent AutoCAD skills, with proven experience producing accurate technical and construction drawing packages.
-
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Canva and Microsoft Office.
-
Experience using Esti or similar procurement software is advantageous.
-
Strong knowledge of FF&E, antiques, fabrics, finishes, bespoke furniture and joinery.
-
A sound understanding of residential construction, materials and detailing.
-
Experience preparing detailed specifications, schedules and project documentation.
-
Experience managing project budgets, timelines and procurement.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise across multiple projects.
-
Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical, conscientious approach.
-
Confidence communicating with clients, contractors and suppliers.
-
A positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to get involved in all aspects of studio life.
We are a small and collaborative team where everyone's contribution matters.
The role offers the opportunity to work on a varied collection of beautiful residential projects, collaborate with talented craftspeople and specialist makers, and be closely involved in the design process from beginning to end.
